Future of Health
I often think how future of health looks like when building products in health and mentoring people.
This post outlines what I believe will happen before 2035, written in plain present simple, spread across domains:
- Precision Diagnostics Network
- Ambient Health
- Nutrition
- Chronobiology Optimization
- Data Exchange
- Movement Intelligence
- Biomedical Device Innovation
- Collective Health Intelligence
- Health-Centric Urban Design
- Cognitive Wellbeing
- Adaptive Health Intelligence
- Personalized Health Learning
Precision Diagnostics Network
For extensive blood, heavy metal and body fluids testing a skilled phlebotomist arrives at the doorstap within one hour globally. Those tests are performed yearly with the set provided by the software suite and manual GP review.
While complex tests may take more time, simpler ones are available within 15 minutes in the computing platform of your choice and all health recommendations are adjusted as significant tests come in.
Testing Efficiency
Cost of running assays goes down while precision and time-to-result goes down. This means smaller and wider labs network, faster turnaround times. Right now tests like Omega3:6 are prohibited to most people due to the cost.
New Biomarkers
One branch at our company looks into novel biomarkers which will help people understand their health in-depth. For example, cholesterol spectral vs simple HDL vs LDL.
Emerging markets
Every place in the world has access to the highest quality assays, including portable solutions for countries and regions not yet fully covered.
Ambient Health
There are going to be devices which you could use to monitor your vitals (body temp, heart rate, glucose) without physical intervention, based solely on electromagnetic waves, light.
These are non-invasive devices which are present abound at houses and medical facilities.
Those devices perform constant monitoring while comparing with baseline and normal distribution for your benchmarks. For example, glucose benchmark is current and goal H1bAc.
Personalized
The food is medicine, the medicine is food. Each calorie you eat is tailored to your needs and heals body vs. speeding up its aging. The software allows to deploy your personal shopping list to delivery services and your kitchen.
Chronobiology Optimization
Tech is in itself destroys health, for example circadian rythms. Devices are aware of circadian health and allow people to natually maintain the circadian cycle. Displays are designed so OPN receptors are not hit with light that interferes with health and exposure is minimised.
Software recommends preferred movement on the latitude factor to get enough exposure for your skin type and mitochondria type.
All technology adheres to maximising Zeitgebers potential.
Data Exchange
Software of the future runs on open protocols, such as loinc. This allows people to easily import their unstructured data and reuse them across software layers.
Movement Intelligence
The software will determine optimal amount of exercise you should get to maintain the most positive outcomes, starting from background movements to high-intensity exercise. Software helps to incorporate it into your daily work design so the feeling of artificial extortion is gone.
Biomedical Device Innovation
No serious effort can be made without making our own hardware. All axis described must benefit from us manufacturing the hardware to facilitate the best experience of people using our products. For example, manufacturing the optical sensors to figure out the light patterns during the day your body and eye is exposed to.
Collective Health Intelligence
Software of the future is building up the community, running software code in private containers on-device as to protect the user privacy.
As a humanity - the world biggest database of metrics and markers normal distribution which allows us to notice patterns and unlock insights which were not possible previously.
Based on those patterns, insights and data sharing with privacy in mind we are able to build the community of like minded people to connect over health topics.
Health-Centric Urban Design
Health data such as movement data, air pollution and such allows us to design better cities with cleaner air, more efficient streets and environments to improve community health.
Cognitive Wellbeing
Health plugins which (opt-in) integrate with messaging apps, keyboard typing patterns, and custom hardware will assess mental health and identify any problems early. For example, depression based on keyboard typing patterns.
Adaptive Health Intelligence
Using state-of-the-art models allows to process vast amounts of the data coming from hardware and software integrations for the benefit of all axis in this post.
Personalized Health Learning
Software of the future will tailor education for each person based on their own health needs. From exercise to the diet to quoting blog posts or podcasts of health MDs which are the most beneficial.
